The Rural Electrification and Renewable Energy Corporation (REREC) has launched an electrification program targeting over 3,000 households in Kirundi village, in the backyard f Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki, bringing hope to a village that has been in darkness for years. While flagging off electrification materials in the Village, Energy Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi said that its time for Tharaka Nithi County felt like other parts of the country, following what he termed as years of neglect. "The president loves you so much. He sent me greetings and asked me to thank you for giving him a calm deputy who is dedicated to his work," said CS Wandayi. Energy principal Secretary Alex Wachira said that the Kenya Kwanza government had already connected over 1M households to electricity since it took power. He added that the government would connect about 3,000 families to electricity in Tharaka Nithi county in this financial year.
