A significant number of learners in Kajiado County has not reported to school due to the ongoing drought. Among the learners is 17-year-old Esther Wangui who scored 256 marks in the 2022 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education examination. Esther’s mother was arrested and jailed for 3 years after being found with game meat due to the ongoing famine, curtailing Esther’s journey to proceed to high school. Her story is no different with that of Mary Njambi, who now has a swollen leg due to walking long distances looking for assistance to go to school with a dream of one day being a lawyer. Sarafina Robi with the details.
