Garissa residents have been urged to participate in shaping Kenya’s digital financial future during a public forum on the Draft Virtual Asset Service Providers Regulations, 2026. Team leader Jairus Mwaka said public input is crucial in developing policies to guide the growing digital economy and ensure safety, transparency, and protection of customer funds.
Residents welcomed the move but called for public education and strong safeguards against fraud. PWDs chairman Aden Bille urged authorities to educate youth already trading digital assets, while Omar Abdullahi called for awareness campaigns in local languages to build public trust.
