Goons rule Nairobi Streets

The Nairobi Central Business District was thrown into disarray as running battles broke out between two rival factions. One group, pro-government, armed with jembe sticks and whips, engaged in confrontations with protesters who responded by hurling stones. It is claimed that the pro-government faction had been deployed to “protect the city from looters” and was overheard, boasting that it had successfully “secured the CBD.”
