The Kenyan government has officially launched the construction of Kabarnet University College, a landmark Sh1 billion project set to become the first public university in Baringo County. Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Soipan Tuya highlighted the project’s role in expanding access to quality, inclusive education while boosting local economic growth.
The university, being developed in collaboration with the Kenya Defence Forces and a Chinese contractor, will feature key facilities including lecture halls, a library, an auditorium, and administrative blocks in its first phase. Leaders, including Hanna Cheptumo and Benjamin Cheboi, praised the project as a major step toward transforming the region’s education and economy.
