The Kenyan government has intensified efforts to resolve land tenure insecurity in colonial-era settlements through the Kenya Informal Settlements Improvement Project (KISIP II). Implemented in partnership with the World Bank and Agence Française de Développement (AFD), the project aims to transition residents from informal occupancy to formal land ownership. In Kirinyaga County, over 1,600 residents across 11 colonial villages are set to benefit from land surveys, beaconing, and eventual issuance of title deeds. The initiative also includes infrastructure upgrades such as roads, drainage, and sanitation to improve living standards.
