The government has been called upon to honour its long-overdue promises to former freedom fighters, who possess invaluable wisdom necessary for moulding the young generation and shaping the nation. Speaking during the Mashujaa Day thanksgiving service for Mau Mau legend General Kiambati Njora at Chamuka village in Nyandarua county, friends of the freedom fighters called on the government to keep its promises. General Kiambati is one of those who led the war against the colonial government during the state of the national emergency period from 1952 to the attainment of independence in 1963.
