A section of health stakeholders is calling on the government to heed its promise of ensuring 51 per cent of new employees in the bio-medical engineering field across the country are women.

Speaking during a conference that brought together the Association of Medical Engineering of Kenya, stakeholders led by the association’s Organizing Secretary, Millicent Alooh acknowledged that the profession is male-dominated, calling on the Ministry of Health to consider women for opportunities. Biomedical Engineers play a very critical role in the health sector as they are charged with the responsibility of maintaining and providing technical support for biomedical equipment.
