Governor Mbarire under fire over KSh 10M used for boda boda event

Embu Governor Cecily Mbarire is on the spot for reportedly diverting 10 million shillings earmarked for the construction of a county-aggregated industrial park to finance a boda boda empowerment event, attended by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki. The revelations prompted Boda Boda operators to hold protests on Thursday in Embu town, saying they did not benefit from the money spent on their event. The funds misuse came to light following audit queries tabled at the Senate County Public Accounts Committee, with the Embu County boss admitting that she initiated the transaction under immense pressure, and promising to re-fund the kitty.
