Kenyans in need of relief food in 23 counties have urged the government to increase the rations as a way of cautioning them against the biting drought. Over 3,000 residents of Malindi who benefited from relief food on Saturday, have also called on the government to implement irrigation programmes in the affected area as a long-term solution to ending perennial dependence on relief support whenever there is drought. Special programmes cabinet secretary Geoffrey Ruku who oversaw distribution of relief food in Wajir County says government has in the last two months used six billion to procure relief food.
