The national women’s football team, the Harambee Starlets, hammered Seychelles 11-0 in the first-round first-leg match of the 2028 Olympic Games qualifiers at the Ulinzi Sports Complex.
Five players scored a brace each as the Starlets led 3-0 at half-time before scoring eight goals in the second half.
Valerie Nekesa scored a first-half brace in the 8th and 43rd minutes, while Elizabeth Muteshi netted her two goals in the 25th and 54th minutes.
Seychelles collapsed in the final 10 minutes of the match, conceding seven goals. Airin Madalina, who also scored a brace, started the goal rush in the 82nd minute.
Martha Amunyolete added another a minute later, before Mercy Airo and Elizabeth Mideva scored four goals in five minutes.
The two teams will meet again at the same venue in the return leg on Monday, with Seychelles having opted to play their home match at the Ulinzi Sports Complex in Nairobi.
