In 2021, Kenya backtracked on its journey of reducing teenage pregnancies, recording a prevalence rate of 21% among adolescent girls. In that year, over 300,000 girls aged between 10 and 19 years were reported pregnant. With the ministry of education calling on the teen girls to go back to school, children borne of these teen mothers fizzle into the background, with some suffering from malnutrition and sometimes neglect.
