Ghana and the Ivory Coast produce about 50% of cocoa in the world, but farmers in both countries continue to live in poverty, worsened by the recent global price decline. To attract buyers, the Ghanaian government slashed cocoa prices by 30% and Ivorian authorities are considering a similar move.
