A bandit crisis is terrorising huge swathes of North West Nigeria, with armed gangs on motorbikes raiding towns and carrying out mass abductions. Analysis by the BBC World Service of attacks recorded by the Acled monitoring group show the problem is getting worse. Incidents between January and June were up 78% on the same time last year.
