IGAD urges boost of intra-African agriculture trade, cites sector inefficiencies

Stakeholders from the Intergovernmental Authority on Development, IGAD, are calling for urgent reforms to unlock intra-African agricultural trade. They say structural bottlenecks continue to stifle the region’s vast potential. Among the challenges cited are sanitary and phytosanitary compliance and certification systems, which participants described as fragmented and poorly harmonized across member states.
