    In Niger, after a two month stand-off between the junta and France, the French ambassador has left the country and French troops are getting ready to pull out. Emmanuel Macron said he’d taken the decision to leave the country because Niger was no longer interested in fighting terrorism. In late July, Niger became the fourth former French colony in the Sahel to go through a coup in just three years. The political upheaval threatens to destabilise a region already struggling to contain groups linked to ISIS and Al Qaeda.
