The Kenya Association of Health Care Support Assistants (KAHSA) has urged the government to intensify action against unregistered and substandard training institutions accused of producing unqualified health workers. Speaking in Thika, KAHSA officials warned that some colleges are illegally shortening caregiver courses from the required six months to just a few weeks, putting patient safety and professional standards at risk.
The association also raised concern over fake recruitment agencies exploiting graduates with false promises of overseas jobs. KAHSA leaders called on students and parents to verify the accreditation status of institutions before enrolling, while urging authorities to shut down non-compliant colleges and protect the integrity of the health care support profession.
