Kariobangi Sharks and Mombasa United will know their fate tomorrow after being summoned by the Football Kenya Federation for a hearing. The two teams were tied 3-3 on aggregate when their promotion clash was abandoned due to crowd trouble. Trouble started in the 62nd minute when Kariobangi Sharks disputed a penalty awarded to Mombasa United. Fans invaded the pitch and assaulted the referee, who was whisked away for his own safety. The FKF Leagues and Competitions Committee will consider the referee’s report and the match commissioner’s report before ruling on the match. FKF currently has no judicial bodies to handle such cases. The FKF ruling will determine which team joins the Kenya Premier League and which team is relegated to the National Super League, ahead of this weekend’s kick-off.
