Kenya, France and Equity Bank push GI certification for Murang’a tea

Tea farmers in Murang’a could soon earn more from their high-altitude tea as Kenya, France and Equity Bank step up efforts to secure Geographical Indication certification for the crop ahead of the Africa-France Summit. The certification would legally link Murang’a tea’s quality and flavour to its place of origin, protecting it from imitation and positioning it as a premium product in global markets, much like Champagne from France.
