Kenya Pipeline Company to grow 100,000 mangroves in Mombasa County

    MANGROVE GROWING

    Kenya Pipeline Company Foundation Manager Banis Lemedeket reiterated that they are targeting to grow one hundred thousand mangroves at the Kwa Jomvu section along the Tudor creek in Mombasa county. The initiative is a partnership with the Kenya Forest Services, Kenya Defence Forces, and the Kwa Jomvu community in their bid to restore the mangroves as they save the ecosystem.

    This is Tudor creek in the kwa jomvu area; efforts to restore the mangrove are ongoing. According to the County Forest Conservator Jennifer Situma there are 3,771 hectares of mangroves which is gazetted forest area in Mombasa County. She noted that they have partnered with other

    stakeholders in the restoration exercise through the adoption of sites where Kenya Pipeline Company has adopted 100 hectares. In a bid to celebrate Customer Service Week, Kenya Pipeline Company organized a mangrove planting at the Kwa Jomvu section where the company foundation manager Banis Lemedeket noted that they have targeted to plant at least one hundred thousand mangroves this year.
