The Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) has called for an immediate stakeholder meeting to streamline funding in the education sector, following a circular to primary school heads allocating Sh188 per learner. The circular, signed by Education Principal Secretary Julius Bitok, shows an allocation of Sh7 per learner for examinations and assessments, with stakeholders flagging the vote heads as insufficient to support learning activities.
Education stakeholders have warned that the Competency-Based Curriculum could be compromised due to the low capitation issued to schools.
