KRA eases import rules on certificate of origin

The Kenya Revenue Authority has amended its contentious directive mandating a Certificate of Origin for all imports. In new guidance, the taxman has eased the rules by exempting certain categories of goods and allowing alternative documents. Nonetheless, experts maintain that this requirement is still in contradiction to the East African Community Trade legislations to which Kenya is a signatory.
