Tourism in the South Coast region is expected to receive a major boost this Christmas season, following a rise in the number of local tourists visiting Kwale County to experience its diverse attractions. The anticipated growth comes after the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife, through the Kenya Tourism Board, launched the Hapa ni Wapi campaign under the Tembea Kenya initiative, which aims to attract 5.5 million domestic tourists by the year 2027. The programme seeks to promote lesser-known tourist destinations across the country while ensuring visitors have greater access to these sites, particularly during the festive Christmas and New Year period.
