Mawingu focuses on providing broadband internet connectivity to rural and peri-urban markets which are usually overlooked by large ISPs. The company which was started in 2012 in Nanyuki has expanded its operations to 13 counties in Kenya, and has set footprint in Tanzania. Company CEO, Farouk Ramji, says the investment from a South African company Pembani Remgro will go a long way in enabling the firm achieve its target of connecting 1 million rural and peri-urban homes by 2028.
