Marsabit Governor urges government to reopen Dabel gold mining site

Marsabit Governor Ali Mohamud Mohamed is urging the national government to open up a gold-rich mining zone of Dabel, in Moyale, Marsabit county. The governor says the county has already registered artisanal miners and demarcated mining areas in collaboration with security agencies, assuring residents that insecurity is no longer an issue. He is now calling on the Ministry of Mining and the Ministry of Interior to work jointly with the county, arguing that the delay is denying both residents and the government crucial economic benefits.
