Masuala muhimu yanayoibuliwa na viongozi wa dunia katika mkutano wa UNGA
Wiki hii, viongozi wa dunia watatumia jukwaa la kimataifa kupaza sauti zao kuhusu nchi zao, katika mwaka uliogubikwa na migogoro mbalimbali, changamoto za haki za binadamu, maendeleo na mabadiliko ya hali ya hewa, ikiwa ni suala la juu.
Wakati ambapo Shirika la Afya Duniani (WHO) linaashiria kuwa watu bilioni 3.6 wanaishi katika maeneo yanayohusika na mabadiliko ya hali ya hewa.
Siku ya Jumapili, wakati wa mkutano wa Future Summit, wajumbe 193 wa chombo hicho cha dunia waliidhinisha mkataba wa “Pact for the Future”.
Waraka huo unakusudia kuyaunganisha mataifa katika kutatua changamoto mbalimbali kuanzia mabadiliko ya hali ya hewa na akili mnemba (AI) hadi migogoro inayoenea na kuongezeka ukosefu wa usawa na umasikini – na kuboresha maisha ya watu zaidi ya bilioni 8 duniani.
Mkataba huo wenye kurasa 42 ulipitishwa Jumapili wakati wa ufunguzi wa mkutano wa siku mbili wa “Summit of the Future”, ambao uliendelea siku ya Jumatatu huku viongozi kutoka ulimwenguni kote wakitoa maoni yao kuhusu changamoto mbalimbali zinazoikabili dunia.

Mkutano wa 79 wa Baraza Kuu la Umoja wa Mataifa – ulifunguliwa chini ya kauli mbiu: Kutomuacha yeyote nyuma: Kuchukua hatua pamoja kwa ajili ya kusukuma mbele amani, maendeleo endelevu na utu wa binadamu kwa ajili ya vizazi vya sasa na baadaye.
