Mathare residents term ongoing demolitions as ‘insensitive, inhumane’

Residents of Kosovo area in Mathare Consituency, Nairobi County, are crying foul over the ongoing demolitions along riparian land terming as inhumane. The Residents together with civil rights groups led by the Kenya Human Rights Commission (KHRC) at the same time have raised concerns over the manner in which the ten thousand shillings compensation was disbursed, claiming that genuine demolition victims are yet to benefit. This as the government says it will close down close to 200 camps hosting tens of victims displaced by the recent floods.
