Members of the Kirinyaga County Assembly have called for urgent traffic reforms to address congestion, poor planning, and safety concerns in urban centres. The motion by Inoi Ward MCA Fredrick Karimi seeks the creation of designated lay-bys for public transport to ease congestion caused by narrow streets and poor parking management.
MCAs warned that unplanned parking is slowing down transport, affecting the economy, and posing security risks. The Assembly passed the motion, directing the county government to develop a traffic management plan within 90 days, mark parking zones, and improve road organization and communication.
