Nurses from across the country have gathered in Nanyuki Town, Laikipia County, for their annual Scientific Conference aimed at addressing the rising burden of mental disorders. The three-day event comes amid growing concern over increasing psychiatric conditions, many of which go undetected and contribute to suicides, gender-based violence, substance abuse, and family breakdowns. On the first day, participants, joined by Laikipia Deputy Governor Reuben Kamuri, held a procession to raise awareness on the importance of seeking timely mental health support. The conference, themed “Integrating Innovations into Mental Health Care for a Resilient Future,” brings together experts and government representatives, with research presentations focusing on climate change, youth mental health, and suicide risk among cancer patients.
