Residents of Ndugi village in Mbeti Sub-location, Kirinyaga Central, are mourning the tragic death of a six-year-old boy whose body was discovered in River Mukengeria after he had been reported missing. The child is said to have disappeared a day earlier, prompting a frantic search by villagers that stretched late into the night. However, the search was called off at around 2 a.m. due to heavy rains, leaving the community in distress.
Police officers from Kirinyaga Central later visited the scene and launched investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident. The boy’s body was moved to Kerugoya Hospital mortuary, where a postmortem examination is expected to be conducted as authorities seek to establish the cause of his death.
