New Testament translated into Chonyi language

The Chonyi Community in Kilifi County is celebrating the translation of the New Testament into their native language, marking a major milestone in their spiritual growth.The Bible Translation and Literacy East Africa Director Peter Mwanguti disclosed that the translation process took a decade to complete at a cost of approximately 40 million shillings. The Chonyi Bible is not only expected to help nourish their spiritual lives but also help in the eradication of retrogressive cultural practices such as witchcraft and sorcery, which have long been a challenge associated with the region. Kendi Lugamba, the Bible Translation and Literacy Board Chairperson announced that translation of the the Old Testament into the Chonyi language is also underway.
