A section of Gachagua allies have, for the second week, come under attack from the police, who lobbed teargas to block them from staging a rally in Muranga. This as democracy for the citizens party leader Rigathi Gachagua condemned what he called state-sanctioned violence against his allies, accusing police of inaction and blocking members of parliament allied to him from holding a rally. Gachagua, who is in the United States, stated that the events in Murang’a County border on state intolerance of dissent, while also warning former Prime Minister Raila Odinga that his union with President William Ruto is premised on exploitation.
