Police mistakenly shoot dead bar owner in Seme village ambush

Sorrow and confusion have gripped Alwala village in Seme Sub-County, Kisumu, after police officers shot a bar owner in what was reported as a case of mistaken identity. Eyewitnesses say the deceased Felix Olweru was shot twice by police officers who had gone to lay an ambush. According to the area Chief, the manager made a distress call to the police claiming some suspects were hiding behind the premises, not knowing that it was the bar owner who had laid an ambush for the suspected thugs. Officers from IPOA visited the scene of the incident, collected spent cartridges, and recorded statements as investigations commenced. The body of the deceased is lying at Kombewa Sub-County Hospital mortuary.
