Around 6:00 PM this evening Kenyans took to social media lamenting the blackout. Kenya Power quickly issued a customer alert saying it has lost bulk power supply to various parts of the country due to a system disturbance. While apologising for the inconvenience caused, it also assured customers that it is working on restoring normalcy in the shortest time possible. The last time the country experienced an outage of this scale was in January this year. Kenya Power explained that the outage that affected Nairobi and six other regions was part of the company's scheduled maintenance.
