The Kenya Agricultural and Livestock Research Organization (KALRO) is actively involved in promoting ratoon technology in rice production. Ratooning is a method where a second rice crop is grown from the stubble of the first harvest, reducing the need for replanting. Speaking to KNA, Dr. Simon Omondi, the Institute Director of KALRO Industrial Crops Research, said that they are utilizing and encouraging farmers on the ratoon technology to enhance crop productivity and sustainability.
