The inquest into the death of Rex Masai during the 2024 anti-finance bill protests took a new twist on Monday with a forensic ballistic examiner saying the bullet fragment taken for examination did not match the pistols submitted by police for testing. Senior Police Superintendent Alex Mwandawiro told trial Magistrate Geoffrey Onsarigo that the bullet fragment must have come from a live rifle round, further contradicting earlier testimonies that no live ammunition was fired during the Gen Z demonstrations.
