President William Ruto says Kenya needs an extra 7,700 megawatts of electricity to power manufacturing and industrialization plans. Speaking during the laying of the foundation for the Vipingo Special Economic Zone in Kilifi, the President said the government is setting up special economic zones and county industrial and aggregation centres to position Kenya as the gateway to Africa's market. Entrepreneurs are expected to invest about 3 billion dollars at the Vipingo Special Economic Zone with locals hoping to reap from employment opportunities.
