Safaricom launches Sh40B domestic bond to fund green projects

Safaricom has today launched the first 15 billion shilling tranche of its 40 billion domestic note programme. The issuance comes with a greenshoe option of up to 5 billion if demand exceeds expectations, making it Kenya’s largest green bond to date. The funds, the telco says, will support energy-efficient and low-carbon projects across it’s operations.
