Security officers in Nanyuki Town, Laikipia East Sub-county, have destroyed over 2,000 litres of illicit brews and 12 crates of expired beer seized during recent operations. The alcohol, which had been held as court exhibits from concluded cases, was disposed of as part of ongoing efforts to curb the spread of illegal and unsafe alcoholic products.
Deputy County Commissioner Patrick Muli warned residents to be cautious when purchasing alcohol, noting that some unscrupulous traders continue to circulate unsafe drinks. He also announced an upcoming intensified crackdown targeting illicit brewers who have shifted operations to surrounding villages in Nyeri and Meru counties. Security agencies praised the judiciary for supporting the fight against illicit alcohol through strict sentencing and faster case handling.
