Senate's devolution committee has given the county government of Turkana and Landmark Holding Limited 30 days to resolve a contractual stalemate that has delayed the occupation of county headquarters, whose construction has taken 11 years. Appearing before the senators, the main contractor decried delays by the Turkana county government in appointing a consultant to review the financial claims made by the contractor for the building to be handed over for use. Currently, the claims have risen to 1.1 billion shillings from the initial cost of 695 million shillings due to penalties and interests, even as the county government maintains that only 764 million shillings is payable.
