Teachers across Kenya are set to receive improved medical services at no extra cost after the government and the Kenya National Union of teachers (KNUT) signed a new agreement to address challenges in health cover. A key highlight of the deal is the immediate introduction of a zero co-payment policy, meaning teachers will no longer pay extra when seeking treatment at approved facilities. Teachers with serious medical conditions that exceed standard cover limits will also benefit from a new ex gratia support framework, while the scheme includes structured access to treatment abroad.
