Six families demand justice after Laikipia University protest leaves one student dead

Six families in Nakuru and Laikipia counties are tonight demanding justice after a deadly confrontation between police and Laikipia University students on Monday left one student dead and five others sustaining gunshot wounds. Ian Mtai was shot dead during demonstrations against the university administration. The students were protesting the alleged failure by the administration to promptly respond to a case where a student slipped and fell during a hiking expedition at the Subukia Falls last Friday. Sixteen police officers were injured during the deadly protests.
