Residents of Osodo village in Homa Bay County are calling on the government to complete a stalled flood control project as heavy rains approach. The county government had deployed a tractor to construct a buffer along the River Miriu to prevent floods from sweeping through villages, but the project stopped midway. The worried residents say the floods could increase the risk of waterborne diseases, cause loss of livestock, and contaminate water, among other problems.
