Tanzanian opposition politician Tundu Lissu has protested his treatment in prison. While appearing before Kisutu Magistrate’s Court in Dar es Salaam, the CHADEMA leader was granted right to represent himself in ongoing treason case against him. Lissu, whose chamdema party was disqualified from the October elections, was arrested for his call for electoral reforms before the polls. Rights organizations have called his arrest and detention a political persecution of opponents in tanzania, calling for openness and accountability.
