On the 13 Aug Zambia goes to the polls in what has now become a closely watched election. President Hakainde Hichilema faces a serious challenge from a unified opposition. Leading that charge is Brian Mundubile, a lawyer, MP, and presidential candidate for an opposition alliance. A relatively low-profile figure until recently, Mundubile was selected to unify a fragmented opposition that includes remnants of the former ruling Patriotic Front and several smaller parties, positioning him as the main challenger to incumbent President Hakainde Hichilema. The BBC’s Dingindaba Jonah Buyoya sat down with Mundubile and asked him about his rise in popularity.
