The first phase of the United Democratic Alliance Grassroots elections kicked off despite delayed delivery of election kits and failure to identify party members in some instances. Nairobi Governor Johnson Sakaja and Dagoretti South MP John Kiarie were among senior party members affected by the hitches as the electronic gadgets failed to identify them as party members. The party's election board has however termed the elections as successful.
