The British government, through its Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FDO), has cautioned its citizens travelling to Kenya against visiting certain parts of the country. In a travel advisory published on the government’s website on Saturday, the UK warned against all but essential travel to areas within 60 kilometers of Kenya’s border with Somalia. It also advised against non-essential trips to eastern Garissa County, as well as Mandera County however excluding Mandera West sub-county. The British government further advised its citizens to only visit the Lamu and Manda islands when travelling to Lamu County, but avoid everywhere else within the devolved unit. In addition FCDO advised against all but essential travel to within 15 kilometers of the coast between the Tana River and the Galana (Athi-Galana-Sabaki) River.
