Lake Victoria Fisheries Organization has embarked on a value-addition project seeking to improve the handling, processing, and packaging of silver cyprinid popularly known as Omena in order to improve the economic value of the commodity. The organization says the fisher folk across the value chain have been incurring losses occasioned by a lack of knowledge of the best practices regarding the commodity.
