Vienna City Marathon Champion Samuel Nyamai won the 3rd edition of Machakos Great Run, clocking 28 minutes and two seconds. Nyamai who trains at Vota Heroes Club finished nine seconds ahead of second placed Charles Mbatha. Kevin Kibiwot was third in a time of 28 minutes and 78 seconds. On the women side, Edna Kibiwot from Nyeri won the 10km race in a surprise result. Lydia Cheruiyot finished second in 31 minutes and 35 seconds. Janet Nyiva finished third. Edward Mutunga from Mwala Machakos won 5km race. The winners won 30 000 Kenya shillings with the runners up pocketing 20 000 shillings. The race were held at Machakos peoples park.
