Wachimba migodi haramu wafariki katika machimbo ya madini
Watu 100 ambao walikuwa wakichimba madini kinyume cha sheria katika mgodi wa dhahabu usiofanya kazi nchini Afrika Kusini walifariki baada ya kunaswa chini ya mgodi huo kwa miezi kadhaa, huku polisi wakijaribu kuwaondoa huko, kundi linalowakilisha wachimba migodi hao lilisema Jumatatu.
Sabelo Mnguni, msemaji wa jamii zilizoathiriwa na uchimbaji madini aliliambia shirika la habari la Associated Press kwamba simu ya mkononi iliyotumwa juu ya mgodi huo na baadhi ya wachimba migodi waliookolewa siku ya Ijumaa, ilikuwa na video mbili zikionyesha miili kadhaa iliyofunikwa kwa plastiki chini ya ardhi.
Mnguni alisema “takriban watu 100 walifariki katika mgodi katika mkoa wa kaskazini magharibi ambako polisi walianzisha operesheni mwezi Novemba kuwalazimisha wachimba migodi kuondoka.
Wanashuku watu hao walikufa kwa njaa au kwa sababu ya kukosa maji mwilini, Mnguni alisema.
Alisema miili 18 iliondolewa ndani ya mgodi huo tangu Ijumaa.
Msemaji wa polisi Brigedia Sebata Mokgwabone alisema bado wanachunguza taarifa kujua ni miili mingapi iliyopatikana na ni manusura wa ngapi waliookolewa baada ya operesheni ya uokoaji kuanzishwa Jumatatu.
